Complaint Policy
MJMS welcomes complaints, because they help the journal improve. A complaint can be about the journal's processes (for example, delays or handling of a manuscript), the conduct of an editor, reviewer or author, or published content (for example, suspected misconduct).
How to make a complaint
Send the complaint by email to [email protected] with the subject "Complaint". Include your name and contact details, the manuscript or article concerned (title, ID or DOI), a clear description of the problem, and any supporting evidence.
How complaints are handled
- The complaint is acknowledged within 7 days.
- It is assigned to an editor who is not involved in the matter. A complaint about the Editor-in-Chief is handled by a Co-Editor-in-Chief or by the publisher.
- The complaint is investigated following COPE guidance. The people concerned are given a chance to respond.
- The complainant receives a written response, normally within 30 days. If more time is needed, the complainant is told why.
- If the investigation finds an error or misconduct, appropriate action is taken (for example, a correction, a retraction or a change of process).
If you are not satisfied
A complainant who is not satisfied with the outcome may ask the publisher (Institute of Health Care Management and Development) to review it. If the matter is still unresolved, the complainant may contact COPE (https://publicationethics.org), as MJMS follows COPE guidance.
Complaints are treated confidentially. Abusive or repeated complaints about a matter that has already been resolved may not receive a further response.
